Common questions

How much does exterior house painting cost in Melbourne?

A full weatherboard exterior repaint in Melbourne typically runs $10,000 to $18,000, including washing, sanding, priming and two top coats of Dulux Weathershield. Brick and render homes usually cost less because there is less timber to prepare.

What are the best white paint colours for walls?

Dulux Natural White, Lexicon Quarter and Vivid White are the whites we get asked for most in Melbourne homes. Natural White is the safe warm pick, Lexicon Quarter suits cooler modern interiors and Vivid White is the crispest of the three for ceilings and trim.

How many coats of paint does a wall need?

Two top coats as standard, plus a primer or sealer coat on new plaster, patched areas or when going over a dark colour. One-coat finishes rarely cover evenly, which is why the difference shows in photos like the ones on this page.

What paint finish is best for interior walls?

Low sheen for walls, because it hides surface imperfections and wipes clean. Semi-gloss for doors, trim and skirting where hands and vacuum cleaners hit. Flat or matt ceilings. That combination is what we use on almost every interior in our gallery.
