Our approach
Damage assessment
We check for hairline cracks, water stains, peeling and plaster damage that need addressing before painting begins.
Repair and seal
Cracks are filled and sanded smooth, water stains are sealed with a blocking primer, and any plaster damage is patched to a flat finish.
Specialist application
Ceiling painting requires specific techniques to avoid lap marks and roller lines. We use premium Dulux ceiling white and the right nap rollers for a flawless result.
Professional ceiling painting, more than just white paint
Ceiling painting is one of the most technically demanding tasks in residential painting. Unlike walls, ceilings show every imperfection, roller marks, lap lines and uneven coverage are immediately visible under natural and artificial light. The technique required is different from wall painting: longer roller naps, specific rolling patterns and careful management of wet edges to prevent visible joins. This is why ceiling painting is best left to experienced professionals rather than attempted as a DIY project.
Water stains are the most common ceiling issue in Melbourne homes, typically caused by roof leaks, overflowing gutters or bathroom moisture. Simply painting over a water stain with standard ceiling paint will result in the stain bleeding back through within weeks. We seal every stain with a specialist blocking primer, usually Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 or Dulux Prepcoat Stain Blocker, before applying the ceiling topcoat. This permanently prevents bleed-through and ensures a clean, consistent white finish.
We use Dulux Ceiling White as our standard ceiling product. It is formulated specifically for overhead application, it has a flat finish that hides minor surface imperfections, excellent coverage and is designed to minimise spatter during rolling. For bathrooms and laundries we use a moisture-resistant ceiling paint that resists mould growth in high-humidity environments.
