Our Approach

Renovation Assessment

We review your renovation plans and assess which surfaces need painting, what preparation is required and how the new work will blend with existing finishes.

Colour Matching

When painting adjoining new and existing surfaces, we colour-match precisely to ensure a seamless transition between old and new.

Trade Coordination

We schedule our work around plasterers, carpenters and other trades so painting happens at the right stage without holding up the project.

Seamless Finish

Our goal is a result where you cannot tell where the renovation starts and the original home ends. Every surface is finished to the same standard.

Renovation Painting — Blending New Work With Existing Finishes

Renovation painting presents a unique challenge that standard repainting does not — the need to seamlessly blend new surfaces with existing finishes. When a wall is extended, a doorway is moved or a room is reconfigured, the new plasterboard and the existing painted surfaces will look different unless the entire wall or room is repainted to a consistent finish. Simply painting the new section and trying to feather it into the existing paint almost always results in a visible line where the old and new coatings meet.

We coordinate directly with builders, plasterers and other trades to ensure painting happens at the right stage of the renovation. On new plasterboard, we apply a dedicated plasterboard sealer followed by two topcoats. On existing surfaces, we sand, spot-prime and apply matching topcoats. When exact colour matching is required, we use Dulux colour-matching technology to analyse the existing paint and reproduce it precisely. This attention to detail ensures the finished result looks like one cohesive space rather than an obvious renovation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you match the existing paint colour in my home?
Yes. We use Dulux colour-matching technology to match existing paint colours from a sample chip. In most cases we can achieve an exact or near-exact match.
Do you paint both the new and existing areas?
We recommend painting full walls or rooms rather than just the new section. This ensures a consistent finish and avoids visible colour differences between old and new paint.
When should painters come in during a renovation?
Painting typically happens after plastering and before flooring and final fit-out. We coordinate timing with your builder or project manager to fit the schedule.
