Off Keilor Road, the post-war brick veneer and clinker brick homes have plainer cornices than this period front room. The preparation is the same. Every surface is inspected for cracks, dents and damage, then repaired, caulked and sanded. The ceilings, walls, doors and frames follow, with enamel on the woodwork. Newer townhouses in between get the same treatment.
