Heritage Double-Storey Repaint in Essendon

On the exterior, the cast iron lacework, verandah posts, window frames and fascia boards were all sanded back and repainted in a deep navy blue using Dulux Weathershield for maximum durability against Melbourne weather. The sandstone was cleaned but left in its natural state — it was in beautiful condition and the fresh navy paintwork made it glow. Every timber sash window was carefully prepared and finished in bright white, and the front door received a matching navy finish with the original brass hardware polished and reinstated. The stained glass panels above the door and throughout the stairwell were cleaned and the surrounding timber frames repainted to frame them properly.

Inside, the scale of the work was significant — over fifteen rooms across two levels, each with high ceilings, ornate plaster cornices, ceiling roses and heritage fireplaces. Every wall received two coats of Dulux Wash & Wear in bright white, every ceiling was finished in Dulux Ceiling White flat, and all timber trim — doors, architraves, skirtings, picture rails and window reveals — was finished in Dulux Aquanamel semi-gloss for that crisp contrast. The marble fireplaces, tessellated tile hallway and polished hardwood floors were all carefully masked and protected throughout. The result is a home that honours its heritage while feeling completely renewed — every room bright, every detail sharp, ready for another hundred years.
