New build painting, getting it right from the first coat
Painting a newly constructed home is different from repainting an existing property. New plasterboard has never been sealed or coated, which means it absorbs paint unevenly unless properly primed first. The standard process for new plasterboard is one coat of dedicated plasterboard sealer, such as Dulux Prepcoat Sealer Undercoat, followed by two full topcoats. Skipping the sealer or using a cheap product results in flashing, visible differences in sheen and colour between the plasterboard joints and the face of the sheets.
